Georgia O’Keeffe Museum
The O’Keeffe Home and Studio reflects a blend of Native American and Spanish Colonial building styles, regional architectural traditions dating back centuries. The oldest rooms of the house were probably built in 1744. The house was expanded in the 19th century into a pueblo-style adobe (mud brick) hacienda, with rows of rooms organized around a common open space, or plazuela.

Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi
The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi is a lovely example of Romanesque Revival architecture, characterized by its Corinthian columns, rounded arches, and square towers. Built between 1869 and 1886, it took the place of a much older adobe chapel. The last remaining piece of the original church houses a statue of the Virgin Mary known as Our Lady La Conquistadora. The statue was first brought to the site in 1626 from Spain and is the oldest of its kind in the United States.

Rio Grande Gorge Bridge
At 650 feet above the river, The Rio Grande Gorge Bridge is the second highest bridge on the U.S. Highway System and the fifth highest bridge in the United States. During the construction of the bridge in the 1960s, funding did not exist to continue the road on the other side, leading to its nickname, the “Bridge to Nowhere.”
After its dedication in 1965, the American Institute of Steel Construction awarded the bridge “Most Beautiful Steel Bridge” in the “Long Span” category. Since then, the bridge has been a draw to visitors from around the world who come to peer (some more nervously than others) over its railings at the plunging cliffs of the gorge and the roiling river below. There is also a stunning walking trail along the rim of the gorge that leaves from the parking lot on the west side of the bridge.
